Do Limes Burn Fat?
Do Limes Burn Fat? This question recently came up because recently we were hiking and a friend of ours who is in her own words a little overweight. As we hiked, she was carrying a water bottle with what at first glance looked like Cucumber in it and she was sipping from it regularly.
When I mentioned that I had heard that Cucumber Water was great for making your skin look good, she informed me that it was Limes in the water and not Cucumber. When I asked why, she said that Limes were great for Fat Burning, well drinking lime water was, to be more precise.
Are Limes Good For Fat Burning?
It seems that the evidence is extremely conflicting. There is a polarised difference of opinion as to if and also how Limes could be linked with fat burning.
We have the Jamaica Observer running this article claiming that:
The high vitamin C content of limes can boost the immune system and also help the body to break down fat during exercise, thus promoting weight loss. The vitamin C will promote the absorption of calcium from the fat cells and will also help in weight loss.

Whereas we find a conflicting opinion at SF Gate in their Healthy Eating Section that states:
It’s a myth that certain foods can burn fat, says West Virginia University. No one food cabbage soup, grapefruit, limes can help you lose fat without extra effort. However, limes are a good addition to a balanced, calorie controlled, low fat diet. They contain nutrients that may help promote weight loss, and their juice and zest add flavour to food without added calories.
